CityFlex boom in the UK - Private Sewer Transfer increases the demand

Enterprise plc is an important player in the maintaining of the UK infrastructure, also in terms of cleaning and prepairing private sewers for TV inspection.

The ongoing private sewer transfer programme in the UK water industry has resulted in a CityFlex® boom in the UK.

By the end of 2011, J. Hvidtved Larsen A/S will have delivered a total of 19 Cityflex® units to Enterprise plc. Enterprise plc. install, build and maintain key assets for a great number of local authorities, government organisations and utility providers. Their bespoke systems and unique processes ensure that local services are delivered efficiently to national standards. Their UK wide network of drainage experts is dedicated to delivering customer focused, efficient and cost effective services for domestic and commercial drainage failures.

Together with United Utilities, Enterprise plc apply its CityFlex® fleet for cleaning and prepairing sewers for TV-inspection - an incrasing demand due to the private sewer transer programme.

The private transfer programme initiated by the British government in 1989, but still ongoing, involves between 200,000 and 300,000 km private sewers (perhaps as much as 400,000 km).

J. Hvidtved Larsen A/S launched the CityFlex® technology worldwide in 2006. This combi-unit is developed to accommodate the rising need for compact mobile jetting and suction solutions in urban areas with narrow streets, low accessibility and weight restrictions.

The CityFlex® was predicted to be a small truck with a great future and with well over 100 manufactured and delivered units, the technology live up to these expectations in full.

The CityFlex® has been designed on the basis of JHL's existing high-performance sewer cleaning vehicles. However, due to the specific market requirements for a mini vacuum tanker, it has been crucial to pay extra attention to matters such as outside dimensions and available payload during the ongoing development of the CityFlex®

The different approach to a lot of details led to important technology inventions showing a considerable level of novelty, including the hydraulically operated partition. The CityFlex® partition operated by one single central hydraulic cylinder is the optimum solution for this type of unit considering the short length  and the limited available payload of the vacuum tanker.

J. Hvidtved Larsen A/S has a European patent pending for this technology and has of course been granted the corresponding Danish patent.

The CityFlex® name is an EU-trademark owned by J. Hvidtved Larsen A/S
